Modern technology under the stag
The Kunstgebäude [Art Building] on Stuttgart’s Schlossplatz was constructed in 1913, but was almost completely destroyed during the Second World War – except for the dome, which remained intact.
With an area of around 500 m2 and a height of 26 metres, it forms the heart of the building.
During the two-and-a-half-year renovation of the listed ensemble, the dome hall was not only accoustically optimised, but also integrated into the modernised lighting concept. The hall, which
is mainly used for art exhibitions, also serves as an event venue. To illuminate the dome and create different lighting scenarios, the LED-Gallagos were placed in the hexagonal smoke vents recessed
into the wall, making them almost invisible thanks to special magnetic, adjustable mountings.
